This is one of the newer churches in Bloemfontein but it's history is one of the richer ones too. Formed in 1953, this parish grew incredibly quickly and formed a splinter offshoot in 1978 when ds Jan Knipe went on to form die Wilgehof-Wes Gemeemnte which was since renamed to die Gardinia Park Gemeente. The two churches both exist today and are are mere 900m walk from one another.
If find these newer churches fasicinating in their architecture becuase if you look at the older ones, a lot of empahsis was placed on parking right around the church. This stems from the history of "nagmal"; a communal regular event typically held monthly but sometimes more frequently back in the day. Farmers from the area would congregate in their wagons around the church. Because this church was built in the time of the car, you'll note a lack of the extensive parking around it. I do particularly love the focal features especially if driving towards it from the main road and seeing it dominating the view.

This is a cache placed as part of the Bombastic Bloem Braai. An attempt to attract cachers to Bloemfontein by releasing 100 new caches on a day prior to a braai. Could there be anything more Bloemfontein?
