There are many legends and myths in Ireland and many more stories too. In many cultures theres a myth of a mythical place that only appears to certain people or at special times. There is a legend in Loop Head that once in a number of years an island by the name of Hy-Brasail (Isle of the Blest) appears, thats normally shrouded in a magical mist. There are even a few records of maps from the early 1800s that feature the island drawn off the west coast. If you look carefully you may see more than you plan for out here!
On the ocean that hollows the rocks where ye dwell;
A shadowy land has appeared, as they tell;

Whilst roaming around the peninsula dont miss out on the sights of the Bridges of Ross, Loophead lighthouse, Kilbaha and much more!
Men thought it a region of sunshine and rest,
And they called it Hy-Brasail, the isle of the blest;

'Gerald Griffin'
