Geocache Description:

28 September 2024, 12:00 - 16:00

History

The Geocaching Association of Great Britain (GAGB) was established in 2003 to provide a national geocaching organisation that encourages best practices in hiding or finding geocaches. The GAGB serves as a UK point of contact for geocachers, landowners, the media and others with an interest in geocaching.

The GAGB committee are a group of volunteers that are elected annually. They are ordinary geocachers seeking to provide a voice for the wider geocaching community through promoting geocaching in the UK.

Since the earliest days of geocaching, it became apparent that geocaching in the United Kingdom needed to be represented by a body recognised by UK geocachers, which could act independently on their behalf. The first committee was elected in November 2003.

Thanks to the founders, we are now celebrating 21 years of the GAGB, with the GAGB growing to over 4000 members, who receive a monthly newsletter, and a quarterly magazine.

We're here at Uckington and Elmstone Hardwicke Village Hall, where there is plenty of parking. Tea, Coffee and Snacks will be available for a donation. Why not make a weekend of it? There are plenty of hotels in Cheltenham, a few miles away, and a campsite 3 miles away at Elmwicke.  Buses run to Uckington from Cheltenham Station.

Bring your non-caching friends, and anyone else who'd like to learn about Geocaching.  There will be plenty of assistance available.

Dogs are not allowed in the hall, however, there will be a gazebo in the car park, which will be manned by the committee, and will have shelter and water.

Trade Stalls

The GAGB Shop will be open, and apart from our normal ranges, we will also be selling our new addition to our series of National Park Geocoins, Exmoor National Park.

In addition to ourselves, the following traders will be present at the event, with more to be confirmed soon:

Other traders are welcomed, please drop us a line.
