Ilkley is a Victorian spa town turned commuter town for Leeds and Bradford. There's also plenty of geocaches nearby, both in the town and on the surrounding hillsides and moorland. Ilkley contains one of my nemesis caches, GC63MFP, which is on the bridge across the river Wharfe at the top of a lamppost. I park underneath it whenever I visit Ilkley and just look up and curse, never able to reach it.
Join us for a casual meet up in Ilkley to start your caching day. However, there is a twist! The log book might not be easy to sign...
- Where: By the flagpole, Riverside Gardens, Ilkley, LS29 9EU
- When: Sunday 11 February at 11am
- By Train: Ilkley Station is a short walk away
- By Bus: Buses are available into Ilkley from places such as Skipton, Otley, Leeds and Bradford
- By Car: Park on the bridge overlooking the event (pay and display). Or, try Bridge Lane to avoid stairs.
If the weather is bad, well tough it out! After the event, if we have the equipment, we will try to find that local high-terrain cache nearby, but not until the event has ended. Hope to see you there!
