Welcome to one of the best views of the Hudson River at Mills-Norrie State Park. The patio at Environmental Center is a fine spot to search for Bald Eagles (or hold a Boy Scout Eagle ceremony).
Back in 1970, only one active breeding pair of Bald Eagles remained in New York. Thanks to the work of the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Cornell University over the past 50 years, there are now more than 170 pairs of eagles in NY State. Perhaps a pair will nest on Esopus Island -- that land mass on the east side of the channel, about 1900 feet away.
In order to log this virtual cache, please message me the following info:
On the top of the eastern most pillar on the patio, there is a metal disc with four letters. What are the four letters?
Optional: Post a photo of Esopus Island in your log.
