10,000th Cache
Please celebrate with me my 10,000th cache.

I had not known until recently that the host of an event could attend the event and count it as a Find. Nearing my Find number 10,000 since taking up the game in July 2007, I decided to host an event, the event being my Find number 10,000.
I will tell you that the last sixteen and one-half years of geocaching have afforded me many hours of adventurous fun with a liberal sprinkling of frustration. My game has been to find all the caches within forty miles of my home. That is, those that were not on my Ignore List. The list includes all Kyack caches, Challenge caches for which I will never qualify, those that physically I will not attempt, and at least one puzzle.
The greatest blessing of practicing the game is the many friends I have garnered over the years. Many are no longer active and those that are still at the game know who they are. An axiom of geocaching is that it is more fun to cache with a friend than to cache alone.
My non-geocaching friends know that geocaching is part of my persona and have learned to tolerate me as I offer lectures to new acquaintances. There are probably more of my signature wooden tokens in the possession of muggles than that have been placed in found caches.
The location is a throwback to 2023 when there were monthly events at fine barbeque restaurants. The location is City Barbeque, out Monroe Road toward Matthews.
I learned that bamafan323 is nearing the 10K milestone as well and hopes to mark the day with his ten thousandth. I am happy to share the honor of this event with him. For that matter, how about anyone nearing or recently passing the number joining us?
