The Amy Robertson mural has been installed at the Promise City Community Center! It recognizes Amy’s life as a teacher, musician, artist, and entrepreneur who was instrumental in funding Wayne County Hospital and Prairie Trails Museum of Wayne County.

The mural includes some absolutely gorgeous details, including an incredible painting of Amy and nods to her artistic background and toy-making career. It was designed by Noel Weber.

The Walldogs were a group of painters, recruited from across the United States and Canada to beautify Allerton 30 years ago. More than 60 artists brought eight murals to life that summer. Those murals have been greatly treasured by the community ever since.
They are back this year for the Walldogs Mural Festival. But this time, an even bigger group of artists is creating 16 murals in Wayne County, Iowa. The murals have been installed in eight different towns around Wayne County. Southern Iowa artist Nancy Bennett started the Walldogs in 1993. The group has gathered nearly every year since, making walls around the world more beautiful.

150+ artists from around the world painted 16 murals that showcase the best of Wayne County's heritage. The new and retouched murals all around Wayne County, include at least one in every incorporated town: (Allerton, Clio, Corydon, Humeston, Lineville, Millerton, Promise City, Seymour). We also committed to restoring the Allerton murals from the original (first!) Walldogs gathering in 1993. Corydon is also getting more than one mural because of its usefulness as a starting point for the mural trail, as well as the availability of multiple buildings that were suitable for murals and financial support from the city.

We know the Walldogs have grown tremendously since 1993, and we're honored to bring the Walldogs back to Iowa to celebrate their 30th anniversary. We're also excited to restore some of the Allerton murals, as well as add murals to all of Wayne County's other towns.

Murals are owned in perpetuity by Wayne County Development Corporation and will be maintained by WCDC, using any funds raised during / after the event.
