Geocache Description:

19 August 2023, 17:00 - 19:00

Eat Street Crossing, International Food Hall

2819 Nicollet Avenue, Mpls

Let's Celebrate!! Geocachers worldwide come together for a day of celebration and smileys on the third Saturday of each August. This holiday is just one of the many quirks that make the global geocaching community so endearing. This year, we celebrate the amazing biodiversity of our planet.

Just a group of geocachers celebrating our holiday together after enjoying the amazing biodiversity in Minneapolis.

No purchase necessary. Contest winners announced along with photo at 6:45 pm.

Enter the International Geocaching Day coin contest with your best travel tales, International or not. Both require you to enter the contest in writing via your will attend log.  Logs accepted up to 4 PM on 8/19. Must be present to win.  In person voting only.  Your 'will attend' log can be used to  enter into both contest categories.

Three categories:

  • Farthest traveled in 2023 from MN for a geocache, include GC code and 2023 date. Determined by 1 way distance in miles from my home location in Minnesota.
  • Best geocaching travel tale, where you been or where you always want to go, celebrating the amazing biodiversity of our planet, as voted on by peers the night of the event. Fiction or not. Traditional, Earth cache, or all types matter. Past or future travel applicable. Be creative to win that favorite point. In-person voting 5 - 6:45. Winner will have the most FPs given to their tale at 6:45. You may vote for yourself, but only 1 vote will count per geocaching name.
  • Consulation prize (yet TBD), if there is no-tie breaker prize required.

both require you to enter the contest in writing via your will attend log. Must be in-person to win. Also, if a team wins, only one coin will be awarded to the 'geoknickname' of entry, not to each cacher in that team (sorry).

Cheers, Travelors.
