There is a plastic box attached to a stump nearby - that is ****NOT**** the cache. The real cache is a MICRO cache and I could easily put a dozen or more of them in that box. The box has plastic bottle caps in it so that people can play checkers on the board painted on the top of the box. Feel free to enjoy a quick game while you are resting in this pocket park! 🙂
My daugher was 10 in 2009 when we first heard the song this cache is named after and I remember getting a lump in my throat as I thought about how close she was to "flying away." When I saw this little pocket park on the Monon Greenway and the butterfly habitat sign, the memory came back to me. Full lyrics of the song are below.
The day I placed the cache, a lovely monarch flittered around my ankles. Please be careful as you walk around so that you don't accidently step on one - stay on the narrow path as you approach.
Butterfly Fly Away - Song by Billy Ray Cyrus
You tucked me in, turned out the lights
Kept me safe and sound at night
Little girls depend on things like that
Brushed my teeth and combed my hair, had to drive me everywhere
You were always there when
I looked back
You had to do it all alone, make a livin', make a home
Must have been as hard as it could be
And when I couldn't sleep at night
Scared things wouldn't turn out right
You would hold my hand and sing to me
Caterpillar in the tree
How you wonder who you'll be
Can't go far but you can always dream
Wish you may and wish you might
Don't you worry, hold in tight
I promise you, there will come a day
Butterfly, fly away
Butterfly, fly away, butterfly, fly away
Flap your wings, now you can't stay
Take those dreams and make them all come true
Butterfly, fly away, butterfly, fly away
We've been waiting for this day
All along and knowing just what to do
Butterfly, butterfly, butterfly, butterfly, fly away
Butterfly, fly away
Butterfly, fly away
