St. Barnabas’ Church can be found on the busy A52 Derby Road, opposite the walls to Wollaton Park. It is a large twentieth century brick building – imposing, but not particularly attractive. It was constructed at the request of the earliest residents of the newly built Lenton Abbey housing estate – the designer was the architect Thomas Cecil Howitt, who was responsible for many well known Nottingham buildings, most notably the Council House in the Market Square.
This is a mystery cache – there is nothing to be found at the published coordinates.
You can answer two of the questions below by a bit of internet searching – the third one will require you to visit the church (though I am sure it can be worked out by logic too). The final coordinates are only a couple of minutes walk away from the church.
ABCD is the day of the year (in the format dd/mm) when St Barnabas’ Day is celebrated.
EFGHIJ is the date (in the format dd/mm/yy) when the church was consecrated.
K is the number of handles on the main door of the church (on the north side of the west-facing wall)
The cache can be found at
N52 (I+E) (D).(E) (H) (E+F) W001 (B) (E+C).(D+K) (K) (H-A)
The cache is a micro, with no room for anything else other than the log sheet – please bring your own pen(cil).
