This event was attempted last month but got preempted by an ice storm, so let's try it again. This event will be different than most others. The core of the event will be two presentations:
- The first one will be about the oldest caches in our game - those that were placed in the year 2000. I have done extensive querying of the data base, looking for not only the currently active caches, but especially those that have been archived. The results tell some interesting stories. And, as part of this enlightening journey, I will be asking questions to see who's up on the subject.
- The second one concerns the activity of our government in connection with the disabling of Selective Availability. Some of the White House and other documents revolving around this decision were previously classified but were declassified a few years ago. I have located these and will show how the decisions and timeline played out.
On the side, my geo-daughter and I will host a display of uncommon geocoins. Also, this library is home to a geocache inside and there are puzzles and labs outside.
