Perth Station Art Series: Mends Street Jetty

Series Information

One of the things I love about commuting by public transport is that you get to see things out the window that you otherwise would not have noticed when using other modes of transportation. However, when you're in the rush of the commute, you can often lose perspective of your surroundings.

This series intends to takes a closer look at the public art at stations along Perth's public transport network.

Artwork Information

Numbat and Frilled Neck Lizard Canopies
Artist Unknown (2019)

The numbat and frilled neck lizard canopies were designed to provide shade and shelter and provide awareness of the Perth Zoo. They stand as welcome statement to the South Perth Foreshore precinct and overlook the Swan River and City.

Instructions

The posted coordinates will lead you to an information cube located near to the artwork. One of the panels on the information cube contains details about the artwork, which you will need to complete the tasks below.

1. Using the diagram of the two animals' specifications, answer the following questions:

  • What is the height of the frilled neck lizard? (A metres)
  • What is the length of the frilled neck lizard? (BC metres)
  • What is the weight of the frilled neck lizard? (D,000 kilograms)
  • What is the height of the numbat? (F.G metres)
  • What is the length of the numbat? (HJ metres)
  • What is the weight of the numbat? (K,000 kilograms)

2. Substitute your answers into the coordinates below:

Cache Information

The final cache is not located nearby to the posted coordinates. You can catch the ferry from the posted coordinates to the final geocache. A return journey will cost you a one zone ticket. Tickets can be purchased on the jetty (or if you are a local, use your Smartrider as it's cheaper). More information on tickets can be found here.

The final cache is a 200mL Sistema with some swaps for the kids and a pencil to sign the logbook.
