Cache is located on Y Cob /The Cob
With its long flat road and beautiful views across the Glaslyn Estuary toward the peaks of the Moelwynion mountain range this is the perfect location for a short walk or a bike ride with the family or dogs or both. Cache is within easy walking distance of the town or from parking off the A497.
The Cob is a sea wall in Porthmadog. It was designed by William Alexander Madocks after whom the town was named. A law was passed to build a sea wall in 1807 and Madocks bought Penrhyn Isaf Farm to get the stones to build it. Over 400 people worked, and workshops and accommodation were built for the travelers in Boston Lodge. The Cob was opened on 17 September 1811. The course of the Glaslyn River was changed by the Cob and Porthmadog harbor was developed to export the product of the slate quarries in Blaenau Ffestiniog. The slate was brought down and across the Cob on the Ffestiniog Railway where it was then loaded onto ships and exported around the world.
