I planted the first Alphabet Cache 12 years ago (was published 0n 1/4/09). I was considering archiving the series but decided to put out another one instead. As with the first Alphabet Series, there will be 4 or 5 caches in a given location, will require a hike of at least 1 mile (no more than 2) to find all the caches, and at least 1 of the caches (sometimes maybe more) will be a Mystery cache. Each cache will contain a number, which is used to calculate the coordinates of the Mystery cache and the grand final (Total Alphabet – Redux). Remember to record the number.
This fourth Redux series contains 5 caches, N, O, P, Q, and R. Like the original 5 caches, Alphabet N-R Redux are all in Gorman Park. The suggested parking is (N39 09.261, W076 52.010), on Pimlico Circle. Here there is a public easement (between 2 4-by-4 inch posts, one clearly stating Howard County Park Property) that leads to a well-maintained, somewhat-complex park trail system. This is probably the most hilly and interesting of any of the Alphabet Hikes. The suggested order is N or O, P, Q, and then the Mystery cache R. Caches N, O, P, Q are just a little ways off the trail, but R will require a slight bushwack. The container for N is a 2”x4” pill bottle.
