Whipsnade Tree Cathedral was created by Edmond Blyth. He wanted to create a lasting legacy for his comrades-in-arms who were no longer with him. From 1930-1939, with the help of just one man, Albert Bransom (1872-1940), Mr Blyth began planting.
They laid out grass avenues and walls of different trees in the approximate form of a cathedral, including nave, chancel, transepts, chapels and cloisters.
The first service was held here in 1953 and there is at least one service held here every year in June.
In 1960 the location was given to the National Trust and now holds grade 2 listed status.
