Geocache Description:

Veterans Parkway Hurricane Survivors

On September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian made landfall near Cayo Costa Island as a category 4 (almost 5) hurricane.  The area experienced catastrophic damage to homes and trees.  Many lives were lost on Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach. The trees along the Veterans Memorial Bike Trail suffered significant damage and many were lost.  Cape Coral did a wonderful job in saving a lot of the trees by righting them and staking them up.

This is a series of geocaches on the bike trail along the parkway (VMBT). These are best done by bicycle, but can be done by walking. PLEASE DO NOT try to find these as "Park and Grabs." There is no parking along Veterans Memorial Parkway. Please use the suggested parking coordinates.

There is a good variety of cache containers and none of them should be terribly difficult. Please return the caches to how they were when you found them.

Please preserve the fun for the next geocacher by
replacing everything as you found it

Always post DNFs! It helps everyone.

Geocaching should be fun!
