Geocache Description:

Welcome to Tirana. The vibrant capital city of Albania.

The Cache

The cache is not at the initial coordinates. It is somewhere in Tirana downtown and not too far away from the center. You need to find the answers to a few questions and calculate a couple of formulas to get the final location of the cache.

Stage 1

The Airport that you are looking at, is named after Mother Teresa.

Mother Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu (born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, on AB/CD/EFGH), honored in the Catholic Church as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, was an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary. She was born in Skopje (then known as Üsküp, now the capital of North Macedonia), then part of the Kosovo Vilayet of the Ottoman Empire. After living in Skopje for eighteen years, she moved to Ireland and then to India, where she lived for most of her life. More info on Mother Teresa's life can be found here

To find the coordinates for the next step you need to mark the exact birthdate of Mother Teresa as AB/CD/EFGH in the format of DD/MM/YYYY. If you did your history research right, the date that you will find will be C=H and E=G.
At this point, you are good to move on to the next stage.

The coordinates for the next stage are [North (B-A)G° EF.BE(D-G)' East HGF° (D/A)D.FD(B-E)]. You can check solution for this stage here at this link

Stage 2
Now you are standing in front of a building that worked very hard during the communist period. You can make your own search for the history of the place by typing in google what you read on the signs that you see on the building, but to move on towards the next step final you will need to solve the question below:

What was the first use of the building in 1931? Mark your answer with J

  • Obstetric Clinic -> J = 3
  • Bank -> J = 5
  • Accounting Office -> J=7

At this step, you can use all the parameters that you have decoded so far.

The coordinates for the next step will be [North (J+E)G° EF.BA(J+A)' East HEF° (B-A)F.E(D-E)J']. You can check the solution for this stage at this link

Stage 3
Now you are standing in front of a building that according to communists, has superpowers. What is this place? Mark your answer with K.

  • A bunker -> K = 7
  • An artistic bunker -> K = 5
  • A swimming pool -> K = 9
  • A bird nest -> K = 6
  • A casino -> K = 2
  • The Ollo -> K = 1
  • National Flag of Nauru -> K = 8.654

You can use all the parameters that you have decoded so far. The coordinates for the final will be:

[North (K-J)E° GF.HFF' East HEF° (B-A)F.JHE']. You can check the solution for this stage at this link

Final
You are now standing in front of another building rich in history but only visible once you get in. You don't need a ticket to access the cache.

Happy caching.
