Geocache Description:

The Kern River Valley has an amazing history which can be admired at the Kern Valley Museum. Many of the locals take great pride in the areas history and have made much of this information available to the public and can be found at this museum.

Through the extraordinary and proud history of local Native Americans (Tubatulabul and Kawaiisu), the resilient gold miners, hardy loggers and pioneering ranchers, with colorful places such as Keysville, Onyx, Johnsondale, Whiskey Flat, and Kernville - the Kern River Valley Historical Society educates all generations about our past as well as present.

You do not need to enter the museum to claim this geocache, however a visit is highly recommended. Hours of operation are Thursday - Sunday, 10 AM to 4 PM.

All answers can be found outside the entrance of the museum which is accessable at any time to the public. To claim this geocache you need to answer the following questions and tasks:

1. Who wrote 9 historic books about the history of the Kern River Valley?

2. What is the name of the mine which can be viewed by looking through a pipe in front of the museum?

3. There is a large white circular stone in front of the museum which was used for gold mining. What is this stone called?

4. Take a photo in front of the museum. If you don't want your face in the photo, a thumbs up will work.
