Geocache Description:

RED ROCKS TRIG LOOKOUT

OVERVIEW - Red Rocks trig walking track located within the Cambewarra Range Nature Reserve leads you through natural heathland across a Hawkesbury sandstone plateau. For some background, trig stations are surveying points erected for the purpose of mapping. They're positioned in places within the line of sight of other trig stations. This means that you can be guaranteed a good view when you walk to one, and this walk is just a short, easy one to Red Rocks trig for some wonderful views of the surrounding area.
From your vantage point, gaze out over Kangaroo Valley. To the north and west you'll be looking at Morton National Park and to the north-east is Budderoo National Park. If you bring a good topographic map and it's a clear day, you'll be able to identify features such as Mount Skanzi, Mount Moollattoo and Mount Carrialoo. Bring along your binoculars to view these mountains, they'll also come in handy for birdwatching or perhaps bring some lunch and enjoy the view into the valley from the neaby picnic bench and seats

ABOUT THE AREA - The Cambewarra Nature reserve is part of the Kangaroo Valley group of nature reserves, this is a protected area located on the cliffs and plateaus of Kangaroo Valley in the Southern Highlands and South Coast regions of NSW

The Reserve has a total area of 1684 hectares, and includes 11 privately owned properties. It is critical for it to be pristine for a variety of reasons, not the least the catchment of water, as the Reserve's basin flows into the Kangaroo Valley River then into the Shoalhaven River, from which the Sydney Water Authority draws water to supply large populations in Sydney and Wollongong.Kangaroo valley is part of a system of conservation reserves, which includes Kangaroo River Nature Reserve and Barrengarrey Nature Reserve. National Parks in the area including the Morton Nation Park, Budderoo Nation Park and Barren Grounds Nature Reserve.

GETTING THERE - Turn off Moss Vale Road onto Leebold Hill Road by taking a sharp turn on the inside of the hair-pin corner at the top of Cambewarra Mountain, the drive to the parking waypoint is approx 5km from Moss Vale Rd , Leebold Hill Road unsealed public gravel road getting to the parking waypoint should be suitable at most times for any vehicle with a standard clearance height,at the parking waypoint here you will find the marked trailhead leading out to GZ, which is fairly easy and mostly flat 1km return walk out along the plateau.

LOGGING REQUIREMENTS -  # 1  At the posted coordinates (approx 2m south of trig) you will find a plaque low on the rock containing 6 digits, here you'll need to find a magic number by calculating the sum of these digits then message me your answer , this magic number can be obtained by adding each individual number on the plaque to the next (for example if the number was 123456, 1+2+3+4+5+6 = sum of 21)
