Geocache Description:

09 April 2022, 08:15 - 13:00

Due to the ongoing pandemic be sure to log in as “will attend” so that if there has to be any changes in the event plan we can put out an announcement. We will adhere to the CDC and the State of Michigan rulings. As of this time no masks, vaccination cards, or limiting gathering size are necessary for this event.
By logging in as “will attend” will help us for food for our pot luck lunch, it would also be helpful to log the number of attendees that would be with your log.

A short history of the Belle Isle event starts back on February 4, 2006 hosted by Brummelbear with help from Rattrak and Peepz. It started with the idea of a meet & greet due to the Super Bowl being in town this weekend. We put out a few caches on Belle Isle that year and it was so successful we decided and annual event would be great. After a few years it was just Brummelbear and Rattrak with help of several caching friends so we formed the Belle Isle Cachers. Learning much those first few years which included the target number of 45 new caches put out each spring and we pride ourselves with a variety of type of caches, types of hides and nearly all containers that swag and travel bugs can be traded in. The reason for 45 is so that many caching teams can finish all of them in a day. The good news is we always keep them up and running throughout the following years event so those who have never cached the island there is 90 plus caches available the day of the event. With the passing of Brummelbear in 2018 the Belle Isle Cachers consist of Rattrak, Team Rumble and TeamLegend4, welcome to Belle Isle 16 event!

We are pleased, and excited, to return to having our pot luck lunch! Please feel free to bring your favorite passing dish or desert and your own drinks (alcohol is not permitted on the island), the Belle Isle Cachers will provide the hot dogs and buns along with paper and plastic wear needed.

We will also be back with FTF drawing for most of the 45 new caches. How this works is it does not give you an automatic FTF but rather a short head start for the FTF. We will raffle them off with a ticket handed out (one per team) as you sign in. Once the raffle is complete the new cache list will be handed out of delivered to your inbox for those who want it electronically. For the old caches please populate that list before coming to the event and loaded in your GPS or phone.

The days agenda is as follows:
8:15 to 9:00am will be a meet and greet and a time to drop off your passing dish.
9:00 sharp will be the FTF raffle followed immediately by releasing the new cache list
11:30am the hot dogs will be on until we run out or 1:00pm. Feel free to drop back in after a couple hours of Geocaching to refuel and break bread with friends. This is not a scheduled stop but drop in when you feel and food will be served!
1:00pm the event will be wrapped up.

When visiting and Geocaching a few things to remember:
Your geo-ride will have to be registered by buying a Michigan State Park pass.
Follow all park rules and especially all parking rules and speed laws.
Never attempt to search out a cache while in the eyes of muggles, it will spoil the hunt for following cachers. This also creates a huge problems for us as the caches go missing when we do not adhere to the muggle factor!!
All pets must be on a 6 foot leash at all times when visiting the island. Not only is this a rule but there are predatory animals on the island that including coyotes.

Belle Isle is a Michigan State Park so you will need a Recreation Passport, here are the rates:
Vehicles will pay $17.00
Motorcycles will pay $11.00
Non-residents can pay $9 for a day pass or $34 for the year
