Geocache Description:

Coordinates bring you to WP1 where you will collect the tools necessary to retrieve and log the final cache.  Bring the whole container or just the tools, but PLEASE RETURN THEM to the same spot when you are done.  WP2, the final, is further along this road.

Naples got its name back in 1887 when John and Alice Williams had a dream to build a world class hotel and a planned community called Naples-by-the-Sea.  Williams spent thousands of dollars on advertising, including ads hyping the "high temperature of the water of the Santa Barbara Channel at all seasons of the year."  Huge wooden letters, twenty feet high, were erected on the bluffs spelling out NAPLES.  They eventually blew down in the wind storms of 1890.  The train coming through the area was a vital part of the plan, but it did not happen in Williams lifetime.

More of the Naples story is available at goletahistory.com/naples or SaveNaples.org

While Private Property signs have not been removed, it is my understanding that this area is still approved for public access.  You'll see surfers making their way down the road on a regular basis.  Entry access coordinates are given below.
