Geocache Description:

Thanks to Somerset Wildlife Trust for the kind permission to place these caches. Please respect the area and replace as found.

Berrow Dunes Local Nature Reserve (LNR) lies within the much larger Berrow Dunes Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The sand dunes systems as found within the LNR are rare, both on a national and local scale, and contain a wide variety of coastal habitats which support a diverse range of flora and fauna.

If you look carefully, you may see Marbled White Butterflies, Six-spot Burnet Moths, Pyramidal Orchids, Skylarks, Yellowhammers, Magpies, Short-eared owls, Hairy Dragonflies, Ruddy Darter Dragonflies and Great Silver Water Beetles. A couple of days before placing these caches, a Barred Warbler had been spotted!

The Reserve is actively managed by Sedgemoor District Council, Natural England and Somerset Wildlife Trust, in order to provide an attractive area for people to visit, and to maintain and enhance its important habitats. The LNR is also used as an educational resource by local schools and colleges.

We did this as a loop using proper paths as lots of the smaller paths are over grown, but the caches can be found in any order.

Make sure you take the time to admire the view here! You can see the Medip Hills one way, Hinckley Point, and the two islands, Steep Holm and Flat Holm. Stunning!
