Bye, bye Alderaan!! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TLGC19: I am going to shut this one down for the winter. Electronics don't like bitter cold. It's in the shop and will be back in Spring either at this location or somewhere else suitable. Brrrrrr TLGC19

Geocache Description:

In an off hand Facebook comment the Dean of local geocachers mentioned that he'd like to find a cache "with lasers".  Since I have such stuff on hand my response was "My Liege, it shall be done".  Ah, but how many lasers?  And how much voltage to put into them?  Clearly there are upper limits to consider, you want a cute little Gadget Cache not the Death Star vaporizing the planet Alderaan!

Of course nobody should stare directly into lasers.

This is hidden at the far end of a lonely, seldom visited city park in Chippewa Falls.  It is designed to be a "gloomy day" or night cache, in full sunlight it is underwhelming.  Park on Herbert Street near the 15 miles per hour sign, you'll be close and won't have to wander through the park proper.

Update Spring 2022.  I was pleasantly surprised to see this gadget cache working after a longer than expected run.  As promised I've upgraded it.  More power, more lasers, more LED's.  L from TLGC19 insisted that I remove the shrieking noisemaker.  Oh well, I intended to have that be a clear hint to power the device off when you are done with it.  Now I'll just have to trust y'all.  I've put it in summer camo and adjusted the difficulty rating.  Should still be able to pick up the reflective tape for a night find, but you can now appreciate this baby in sunlight also.  If you are doing a re-visit it has been moved about 15 feet for a better summer hide location.

The log is now in a small magnetic detachable container inside.  Try not to drop things all the way to the bottom.  And as always, report any mechanical or electrical issues.  With this sort of technology there is always a loose exhaust port somewhere.......TLGC19
