Geocache Description:

Welcome to the "West Side" of Wildlife Prairie Park! (Note: you must pay an admission fee, or have a membership, in order to hike at this not-for-profit park. The West Side is outside the park's Main Gate and there's a kiosk for registration.)

This cache is part of the Lower West Side Bison Trail, which loops through the southern portion of the hiking and biking trails in the West Side of the park. There is a map at the kiosk near the parking lot and the trails are well-marked. The caches on this loop are bison tubes (mostly) and the cache name can often be used as a clue.

Caches are generally located near a trail, and no bushwhacking is required to get from cache to cache. Some of the trails are quite rocky by Central Illinois standards. Stay alert for cyclists, as the trails are multi-use and are frequently used by mountain bikers.

If you start from the West Side parking lot and hike just the portion of trails required to find this cache group, you can expect to hike around 2.5 miles.

This cache is placed with permission from the Wildlife Programming Director, who can be contacted at programming@wildlifeprairie.org . The cache is available during normal operating hours of the West Side (dawn to dusk).

Please follow the usual rules for contents of caches (no food items, and no inappropriate, offensive, or hazardous materials).

Enjoy your time geocaching at Wildlife Prairie Park!
