Have you seen a Danaus plexippus in Hyland Park lately? If it is late summertime, you might say "yes" (not so much in the winter, though). These insect critters are known for their striking beauty and regal appearance. They feed off milkweed in the nearby meadows and migrate 3000 miles south for the winter in Mexico. Keep them around Minnesota by protecting our state's natural resources - including our wild open spaces!
Hyland Park is home to the Richardson Nature Center - a fantastic place for year-round natural trail hiking, bird-watching, geocaching, cross-country skiing, education, and family fun! Come experience nature - just minutes away from Minneapolis! Park hours are 5 am to 10 pm.
This geocache was approved by the Three Rivers Park District.
