Nice easy park and grab. In the name of this cache the "6,000" corresponds to the elevation (actual 6,000' is across the highway). This is the first point on the Zane Grey Highway, General Crook Trail, or Highway 260 East - take your pick - where you get up to 6,000 feet of elevation. For reference, at this spot you are almost the same elevation as Flagstaff. From here, going east, you lose a little elevation before gaining a lot.
Cache is small and needs to be replaced exactly like you find it or better because a lot of people stop here on their way to the Verde Valley before heading down the long grade to 13 Mile Rock.
Note that this site is NOT the actual General George Crook Wagon Road. You will find that about a mile north of the highway, running mostly parallel to it. That road was completed in 1873 (started in 1871, 100 years before I graduated high school in Camp Verde!). This highway was built in about 1970.
Cache contains log but nothing to write with. Small trade items or TB's will fit, and there is $1.00 or a nice "swiss army-type knife" for FTF or to trade.
