Geocache Description:

What could make a drive down one of the world's most beautiful highways even better? FINDING A CACHE!

Look, I hate freeways. Living (now) in L.A., how could I not? But when I was a kid growing up in northern California the fabulous Interstate 280 was built, linking San Francisco and San Jose. It was designed to serve as an alternate to US 101, an ugly, congested stretch known then as "The Bloody Bayshore"... but what it became, in my eyes and those of many others, was "The World's Most Beautiful Freeway."

And, amazingly enough, today IT STILL IS! Almost no construction has been built within sight of the road since the day it was opened, meaning the drive is one through rolling, oak-studded hills, past Crystal Springs Reservoir, within a stone's throw of the historic Filoli Estate, and right over the top of the alien-like Stanford Linear Accelerator. What more could you ask for?

A cache! This one is located in a Vista Point, open sunrise to sunset, that's on the southbound side but accessible if you're traveling in either direction. There's not much at this stop - no bathrooms, no vending machines or payphones... and that's why we like it!

The cache is in a sandwich-sixed Tupperware - you know, one of those where the top only goes back on if you lay it against a flat surface and lean on it really hard? It's pretty well stuffed, so have a great time finding it before you seal it back up tight. Be assured, we'll be back to check on it every time we return to my favorite road. Good luck!
