Geocache Description:

19 March 2022, 11:30 - 12:00

READ EVERYTHING SO YOU KNOW THE PLAN BEFORE THE EVENT!

Spring has almost sprung in the scenic Santa Ynez Valley.  Plan to join geocachers for a quick gathering and explore a lavender farm.  There may be Iris, Golden poppies and Purple lupine in bloom mid-March, especially on Figuerora Mountain!

Request geocachers wear something lavender, purple, or violet ... to attend this fun and fast gathering!

Got a crazy hat with a violet feather?  Wear it!

Diehard LA Laker or Minnesota Vikings Fan?  Put on that purple jersey!

Borrow a gaudy purple tie from Grandpa?  Let's see it!

Own a Barney the Dinosaur costume?  Uh no, that's not necessary, just be creative and have fun with the lavender theme!

Friendly dogs are welcome here, but add something purple to that collar!

Liquid refreshments are provided, when the event begins.

There is parking for ~ 8 vehicles near GZ, so request geocachers park along the entry road in between trees if full.  Can park on the street to the east of the farm, but avoid doing so on the hill or near the top by the entrance.  Can also meet up with other geocachers at parking around the Santa Ynez Valley and carpool in (much more fun that way).

The Plan:

11:15 to 11:29 AM - Park your Geocaching Utility Vehicle (GUV) and walk towards GZ and explore the lavender crops. Try to blend in like a tourist, not a geocacher!  Do your best to act normal during this time.  Tourists will want to check out the amenities, like smelling the lavender, taking photos near the Statue of Liberty, etc!  There is a porta potty at the end of the driveway to use (it is kept clean).  But during this time, HIDE your GPS receiver!  Pretend to be a tourist!!!   Don't tell any muggles (not wearing purple) that you are a geocacher!

@ 11:29:30 AM - As GPS relies on precision timing, take out your GPS receiver (or phone) and wait for the atomic synchronized clock to reach precisely 11:30.  Remain at least 50 feet away from the host and table prior to the official start.

11:30 AM -  Now wait for the host to give the signal, then swarm (no running) the refreshment table to get a drink and name tag or bring one with your geocaching handle and put it on now!  Get your beverage and move about to socialize quickly with all the other purple people on the grounds, very important!!!

11:45 AM - Gather for a Geocaching Group Photo with the Sunflower mural backdrop, to show off your attire! You will notice it when you enter the farm.

11:55 AM -  Host Announcement

Noon - It's time to scram to go forth and geocache in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley, Los Olivos, and the nearby Los Padres National Forest, for more great photo opportunities!

If you take any cool or fun pictures on this day, then kindly ask to add them to this event page to share with others.  Check for updates to the event page and announcements as the event day approaches.  Anticipate a beautiful sunny day and many smileys (avoid those dreaded blue frownies)!

Let's Love broken heartbroken heart Lavender for a day and Have Fun in the scenic Santa Ynez Valley!  smiley
