Geocache Description:

PLEASE REPLACE EXACTLY AS YOU FIND THIS CACHE, SO IT IS NOT VISIBLE FROM ANY DIRECTION. THANKS.

This series of 10 caches has been set up around an area local to where I live. The route if completed as a whole takes you on muddy footpaths, along residential roads and into a few small copses which I did not know existed until recently. The whole route in numerical order is around 5km.

At the time of setting the caches, the 10 caches in this loop all have different cache containers. The loop can be completed in smaller sections or a few work well as “dash and cache”s.

The site which forms the centre of the main route is currently the Blue Mountain development. In 1992 Blue Mountain Golf Centre was founded and a challenging 18-hole parkland golf course existed on this site from 1993-2016. There were many water hazards on the course which measured over 6000 yards and was a par 70 course. The course was closed for the development of houses and schools in 2016. There are many opportunities to visit the site of the old golf course on the route around this set of geocaches and you can still pick out, the tees, greens and fairways in some part of the course. The area will develop over time but at the time of setting the caches in December 2020, Kings Academy, Binfield has been open for Secondary pupils since September 2018 and for Primary pupils since September 2019. There are a number of housing developments in progress and some of the properties on the old golf course site are already being lived in.

The location of the caches have been chosen to create a loop walk but also to consider some of this on-going development in the area, the hope will be that the locations don’t need to be amended over time.

Cache  # 5

This cache is a micro, which will require tweezers to extract the log. It is placed where stealth will be needed to remove and replace from it’s hiding place.

The footpath between caches 5 and 4 are at the time of setting the cache (Dec 20) is flooded. The path is passable in wellies. To avoid this wet section, walk through Forest Road car park and take the footpath furthest from the road, you will find a spot to pop out about 50m or so past Number 4. Your other option is to exit the footpath at the car park, cross Forest Road with care. When you reach Yew Tree House, cross the road and join the footpath through the opening there. You will need to back track slightly for Number 4 whichever route you take.
