Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden on a small roadside cliff off of Hwy 68 that I've aptly named Mossland. This cache offers a short approach and a fairly straight-forward 15 meter rappel using your choice of an assortment of large trees as a rappel anchor. Please note that this cache is an extremely challenging geocache that requires climbing equipment to reach safely.

Mossland:

Lying only about 100 m from Highway 68 and offering a very quick approach, Mossland is a steep vertical cliff beside a major drainage on the north end of Lusk Creek Ridge. Thanks to the abundance of moisture and north-facing aspect, this cliff and the surrounding terrain is covered with lush moss. So sure, Mossland seemed like an appropriate name for the cliff!

After a quick hike in from Hwy 68, note your rappel line which follows beside a prominent prow to the right of a large tree on a ledge. Reach the top of the cliff by easily hiking up the drainage to the left-hand side of the cliff. Up at the top, I used a bomber double tree as my anchor - I also cleared out some obstacles to make a nice route to rappel down to the cache site from there. However, there are plenty of other large trees situated even further back from the cliff should you so wish.

Although this cache offers a short hike and a relatively easy rappel, the rock is of fairly poor quality and should be treated with respect. I did clean all major obstacles and some large loose rocks, but be cognizant of your surrounding during your rappel and make sure all spectators are situated well away from the base of the cliff.

Enjoy your rappel amongst the mossy cliffs at Mossland!

Note that climbing gear for rappelling is essential for this cache - do not attempt to scramble or otherwise reach this cache without a rope. Attempting to reach this geocache without a rope will put you at serious risk of significant injury or death! This is a significant challenge that requires specialized climbing skills and the associated equipment. Even once you reach GZ, finding the cache could prove to be a major challenge. Read the hint and check the spoilers to help simplify your search, if you wish.
