光復新村位於霧峰區，其歷史可追溯到1950年代初期，退守台灣的中華民國政府，為了防止戰爭時一次就將政府機關摧毀，因此推動「疏遷計畫」，把台灣省政府遷到臺灣中部。1956年建立的光復新村成為二戰後台灣第一個新市鎮，次年於南投市建立中興新村。
昔日，光復新村為省政府教育廳、衛生處、印刷廠員工的眷屬宿舍。資金為美援提供，並由當時的建設廳副廳長劉永楙到英國考察，帶回最新的「花園城市」設計概念，將工作、居住區合一，設計低人口密度、高比率綠地的生活空間。村內具有台灣第一座雨水、污水分流的下水道系統，在台灣的都市建築史上有其特殊的意義。九二一大地震後，村內亦受損嚴重，也有許多居民傷亡。留下的住戶之後遷離村莊。
如今，光復新村經過社區活化再利用，並經由70位充滿理想的店主組成的小聚落青年夢想地，搖身一變成了文創藝術的眷村，你可以在村內看到各種有趣的裝置藝術和文創小店。寶盒在開放的空間，隨時可以找寶，但還是建議白天來，請不要貼出寶盒照片。
Guanfu New Village is located in Wufeng District, its history can trace back in early 1950s when R.O.C government retreated to Taiwan. To prevent war in future may destroy government agencies at one time, government implemented "Evacuation Program" to move the government location to center of Taiwan. Guangfu New Village is the first new village built in 1956 after WWII. And the very next year, Zhongxing New Village was built in Nantou City.
Back in the days, Guanfu New Village is the dormitory of employee's family for Education/Health and Welfare Department in government and printing factory. The construction fund was from U.S and the V.P of Construction Department in government, Yung-Mao Liu, visited England and came back with "Garden City" new design concept which combines work and residential area to achieve low density population and high percentage of greenery environment. The village has very first underground sewage system that separates rain and waste water. It has a special meaning of urban architectural history in Taiwan. After 921 earthquake, the village was seriously damaged and many residents were injured or dead. Then the remained residents moved out of the village.
Nowadays, Guangfu New Village has turned into a cultural and creative village after community revitalization. 70 entrepreneurs came to establish their creative base here. You can see many interesting installation arts and shops in the village.The cache is at opened area, and you can find the cache at any time. But coming at daytime is recommended.
