Geocache Description:

19 September 2020, 09:00 - 15:00

This year's fall campout will be held at Buckhorn State Park. Established in 1971, Buckhorn includes a 4,500-acre park and wildlife area, a peninsula in the Castle Rock Flowage of the Wisconsin River, and land along the Yellow River--a paradise for water recreationists, hunters, hikers and nature lovers. There are 68 family campsites that can accommodate tents or trailers. Each family site has a picnic table and campfire ring. There are also 50 cart-in/backpacking sites and a group camping area. Other features of the park include a two-level accessible wildlife blind, accessible cabin, accessible fishing pier and waterfowl hunting blinds.

The event will be held from 9am-3pm.

Due to covid there will be no physical log sheet to sign in (also not technically required by groundspeak for events) Due to covid and adhering with park and state and CDC recommendations, we encourage the use of face covering and social distance 6' while under the shelter (this includes looking at merchandise) We will have hand sanitizer available at the shelter Due to covid and adhering to park suggestions, we encourage the use of Credit Cards for merchandise purchases for ease of disinfecting, cash will still be an available option Reminder that there is no potluck and the WGA will not provide any food. We will provide charcoal for the grill for those that want to grill their own. Some important notes:

  • A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker is required on all motor vehicles stopping in state parks, forests and recreation areas. Due to COVID-19 pandemic precautions, daily stickers are not currently available and no stickers are being sold onsite. You can purchase a yearly sticker in advance online. Update: You can now purchase daily passes once again. https://yourpassnow.com/ParkPass/wi
  • In the interest of safety, we are foregoing the burgers, brats, and hot dogs we typically provide. We are not asking anyone to bring a dish to share for the same reasons.
  • If you would like to contribute a prize for the drawing please contact a WGA Board of Director.
  • Due to the cancellation of our spring event, our wonderful Wisconsin reviewers have granted a one-time waiver of the restrictions for event stacking for this event and the Fall Campout scheduled for the previous day.
