Il Monte Croce è una cima delle Alpi Apuane Meridionali alto 1314 metri situato nel comune di Stazzema, sullo spartiacque tra le valli della Turrite di Gallicano e della Turrite Secca, entrambi tributari del Serchio. Il nome deriva dalle quattro creste più o meno perpendicolari che si riuniscono sulla cima, caratterizzata da pratoni erbosi. Dalla cima c'è una bellissima vista verso le Panie, il Matanna, il Nona, il Procinto, il Piglione, il Prana, oltre al mare, e gli Appennini. Sulla cima è presente una croce alta circa 2,5 metri; il monte è particolarmente frequentato alla fine della primavera, quando fioriscono le giunchiglie. La cima è raggiungibile dalle tre foci che circondano il monte: la Foce delle Porchette, la Foce di Petrosciana e il Termine o Colle delle Baldorie. Sul versante sud è presente la gola delle Scalette, percorsa dal sentiero 108, oltre ad alcune grotte.
La cache è un piccolo contenitore di tipo lock and lock nascosto sotto alcune rocce a poca distanza dalla croce di vetta. Contiene logbook, matita, e piccoli oggetti da scambiare. Buona ricerca!
Monte Croce is a 1314 meter high peak of the Southern Apuan Alps located in the municipality of Stazzema, on the watershed between the Turrite di Gallicano and Turrite Secca valleys, both tributaries of the Serchio River. The name derives from the four roughly perpendicular ridges that meet on the top, characterized by grassy lawns. From the top there is a beautiful view towards the Panie, the Matanna, the Nona, the Procinto, the Piglione, the Prana, in addition to the sea, and the Apennines. On the top there is a cross about 2.5 meters high; the mountain is particularly popular at the end of spring, when jonquils bloom. The summit can be reached from the three passes that surround the mountain: the Foce delle Porchette, the Foce di Petrosciana and the Termine or Colle delle Baldorie. On the south side there is the Scalette gorge, crossed by path 108, as well as some caves.
The cache is a small lock and lock container hidden under some rocks not far from the summit cross. It contains logbook, pencil, and something for exchange. Happy geocaching!
