Här stod tidigare Kirunas första stadshus Igloo, som invigdes 1963.
Stadshuset skyddades som byggnadsminne enligt kulturmiljölagen 2001. Detta upphävdes på grund av påverkan från gruvdriften och byggnaden revs 2019 som en del av samhällsomvandlingen.
I byggnaden fanns många detaljer och konstverk av hög kvalitet som har bevarats och kommer att återbrukas i nya centrum.
En del detaljer har även återbrukats i gestaltningen av gamla stadshustomten så som tegel till grillplats, räcken vid utsiktsplats, takkonstruktion till scenen och klocktornsfundament som en del av sittplatser, samt entrétrappan.

On this site stood Kiruna's first city hall, Igloo, which was inaugurated in 1963.
In 2001, Kiruna City Hall was listed as a cultural heritage building in accordance with the Swedish Heritage Conservation Act. This status was revoked due to the impact of mining operations, and the building was demolished in 2019.
The old building boasted many high-quality handcrafted details and artworks that have been preserved and will be reused in the new city centre.
Some details have even been reused in the design of the old city hall site, including bricks used to construct barbeques, railings around the viewpoint, the roof structure for the stage and the clocktower foundation, which is being used for some of the seating, as well as the entrance staircase.
