This is the site of a Pinus radiata seed orchard. In this orchard the pine cones are harvested from the small pine trees and the seeds are extracted and are then raised by nurserymen to restock our mature forests as they are harvested. At times you may see bags attached to the tree branches. These bags isolate the immature pine cones and allow the nurseryman to pollinate the cone with known pollen.
