In time of Corona you may follow all the instructions of the listing virtually using Google Street View. This way no need to visit live all the tour stops to calculate the final's coordinates. Only for signing the logbook you should schedule a visit on Crete as soon as the Corona crisis is behind us.
Until a few years ago, the Lasithi Plateau could only be reached from the north on paved roads. In the meantime, a paved, but narrow road leads up from the south. From waypoint A it is not far until you have this view of the Lasithi Plateau. At waypoint A you will find a geocache, in the listing you can see one of the six images searched for. (There is no Google Street View on this street.)
On the edge of the Lasithi Plateau at Waypoint B is the Psychro Cave, also known as the Zeus Cave. It was an important place of worship for the Minoans, which is documented by finds that date back to the Early Minoan era (around 2800 BC). This cult may be related to the Greek myth that Zeus was born in this cave and was cared for by the goat Amaltheia. We leave the Lasithi plateau in a north-easterly direction and go down about 600 meters of altitude on a winding road. We come through a few picturesque villages. Taverns along the street invite you to take a break. The tavern at waypoint C is always decorated with numerous tomatoes that hang here to dry.
In the short amount of time you spend as a tourist on Crete, it will certainly not be possible to experience everything that happens on Crete. In June 2019 for example, the concert in front of the church of Houmeriakos was watched by two or three hundred Greek spectators and a handful of non-Greeks who live here. The "Finnish Philharmonic Orchestra Rauman Poikasoittokunta", which offered an atmospheric music evening with the conductor Anne Lehtomäki-Koskinen, came at the invitation of the "Friends Association of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Agios Nikolaos". Anne Lehtomäki and her husband have their second home in Houmeriakos. Further concerts were given in Agios Nikolaos and Heraklion.
At waypoint D you are very close to the event location.
At waypoint E you are going to enter the valley of Exo Lakonia. If you come to Crete yourself to find the boxes of the VTC-series, you will find yourself on the hills to the east of Exo Lakonia, which you can see in the photo.
A small road leads from Exo Lakonia up to Kritsa. At waypoint F you are in the parking lot of the church Panagia Kera. The church, a three domed church, dates from the 13th century and houses well-preserved and restored Byzantine frescoes.

Nur das Signieren des Logbuchs müsst Ihr auf den Tag verschieben, an dem Ihr real nach Kreta reisen werdet.

Auf asphaltierten Straßen erreichte man bis vor wenigen Jahren die Lasithi-Hochebene nur aus dem Norden. Inzwischen führt auch aus dem Süden eine befestigte, wenn auch schmale Straße hinauf. Vom Wegepunkt A ist es nicht mehr weit, bis Ihr diesen Blick auf die Lasithi-Hochebene habt (s. Foto im englischen Teil). Am Wegepunkt A findet Ihr einen Geocache, in dessen Listing seht Ihr eins der sechs gesuchten Bilder. Google-Street-View gibt es auf diesem Sträßchen nicht.
Am Rande der Lasithi-Hochebene liegt bei Wegepunkt B die Höhle von Psychro, auch bekannt als Zeus-Höhle. Sie war eine wichtige Kultstätte der Minoer, was durch Funde belegt wird, die bis in die frühminoische Epoche (etwa 2800 v. Chr.) zurückreichen. Mit diesem Kult steht möglicherweise der griechische Mythos in Verbindung, wonach Zeus in dieser Höhle geboren worden war und von der Ziege Amaltheia versorgt wurde. Die Lasithi-Hochebene verlassen wir in Richtung Nordosten und „vernichten“ auf einer kurvenreichen Straße etwa 600 Höhenmeter. Wir kommen durch ein paar malerische Dörfchen und an der Straße laden immer wieder Tavernen zu einer Pause ein. Die Taverne bei Wegepunkt C ist stets mit zahlreichen Tomaten dekoriert, die hier zum Trocknen hängen.
In der kurzen Zeit, die man als Urlauber auf Kreta verbringt, wird es sicher nicht möglich sein, all das, was auf Kreta geschieht, zu erleben. Beispielsweise das Konzert vor der Kirche von Houmeriakos verfolgten im Juni 2019 etwa Zwei- bis Dreihundert griechische Zuschauer und eine Handvoll Nicht-Griechen, die hier leben. Das „Finnische Philharmonische Orchester Rauman Poikasoittokunta”, das hier mit der Dirigentin Anne Lehtomäki-Koskinen einen stimmungsvollen Musikabend bot, kam auf Einladung des „Freundesvereins des Philharmonischen Orchesters von Agios Nikolaos“ Anne Lehtomäki und ihr Mann leben zeitweise in Houmeriakos. Weitere Konzerte wurden in Agios Nikolaos und in Heraklion gegeben.
Am Wegepunkt D seid Ihr ganz in der Nähe des Veranstaltungsortes.
Am Wegepunkt E seid Ihr auf dem Weg in das Tal von Exo Lakonia. Wenn Ihr selbst nach Kreta kommt, um die Dosen der VTC-Serie aufzusuchen, werdet Ihr Euch auf den Hügeln östlich von Exo Lakonia, die Ihr auf dem Foto (s.o. im englischen Teil) seht, wiederfinden!
Von Exo Lakonia führt ein kleines Sträßchen hinauf nach Kritsa. Am Wegepunkt F steht Ihr am Parkplatz der Kirche Panagia Kera. Die Kirche, eine dreischiffige Kuppelkirche, stammt aus dem 13. Jahrhundert und beherbergt gut erhaltene und restaurierte byzantinische Fresken.

Σε περιόδους Corona, μπορείτε να ακολουθήσετε όλες τις οδηγίες αυτής της περιγραφής με το Google Street View, έτσι μην χρειάζεται να είστε πραγματικά στην περιοχή για να υπολογίσετε τις συντεταγμένες του φινάλε. Απλώς πρέπει να αναβάλλετε την υπογραφή του ημερολογίου μέχρι την ημέρα που πραγματικά θα ταξιδέψετε στην Κρήτη.

Μέχρι πριν από λίγα χρόνια, το Οροπέδιο Λασιθίου ήταν προσβάσιμο μόνο από τα βόρεια από ασφαλτωμένους δρόμους. Σήμερα ένας ασφαλτωμένος, αν και στενός, δρόμος υπάρχει και από τον νότο. Δεν απέχει πολύ από το Σημείο Διαδρομής Α μέχρι να έχετε αυτή τη θέα στο Οροπέδιο Λασιθίου (βλ. Φωτογραφία στο αγγλικό τμήμα). Στο Α θα βρείτε ένα geocache, στην λίστα του μπορείτε να δείτε μία από τις έξι εικόνες που αναζητήθηκαν. Δεν υπάρχει Google Street View σε αυτόν τον δρόμο.
Στην άκρη του Οροπεδίου Λασιθίου στο Σημείο Διαδρομής B βρίσκεται το Σπήλαιο του Ψυχρού, γνωστό και ως το Σπήλαιο του Δία. Ήταν ένας σημαντικός τόπος λατρείας για τους Μινωίτες, που ξέρουμε από ευρήματα που χρονολογούνται από την Πρώιμη Μινωική εποχή (περίπου το 2800 π.Χ.). Αυτή η λατρεία μπορεί να σχετίζεται με τον ελληνικό μύθο ότι ο Δίας γεννήθηκε σε αυτό το σπήλαιο και τον φρόντιζε η κατσίκα Αμάλθεια. Φεύγουμε από το Οροπέδιο Λασιθίου προς βόρειο-ανατολική κατεύθυνση και κατεβαίνουμε περίπου 600 μέτρα υψόμετρο σε ένα δρόμο με πολλές στροφές. Περνάμε από μερικά γραφικά χωριά και ταβέρνες στον δρόμο σας που σας προσκαλούν να κάνετε ένα διάλειμμα. Η ταβέρνα στο Σημείο Διαδρομής C είναι πάντα διακοσμημένη με πολλές ντομάτες που κρέμονται εδώ για να στεγνώσουν.
Στο σύντομο χρονικό διάστημα που περνάτε ως τουρίστας στην Κρήτη, σίγουρα δεν θα είναι δυνατό να ζήσετε τα πάντα που συμβαίνουν στην Κρήτη. Για παράδειγμα, η συναυλία μπροστά από την εκκλησία του Χουμεριάκου τον Ιούνιο του 2019 παρακολούθησαν περίπου διακόσιοι - τριακόσιοι Έλληνες θεατές και πολύ λίγοι ξένοι που ζουν εδώ. Η «Φιλανδική Φιλαρμονική Rauman Poikasoittokunta», που προσέφερε ατμοσφαιρική μουσική βραδιά με τη μαέστρο Anne Lehtomäki-Koskinen, ήρθε μετά από πρόσκληση του «Συλλόγου Φίλων Δημοτικής Φιλαρμονικής Αγίου Νικολάου». Η Anne Lehtomäki και ο σύζυγος της είναι κάτοικοι του Χουμεριάκου. Συναυλίες δόθηκαν και στον Άγιο Νικόλαο και στο Ηράκλειο.
Στο Σημείο Διαδρομής D βρίσκεστε πολύ κοντά στην τοποθεσία της συναυλίας.
Στο Σημείο Διαδρομής Ε μπαίνετε στο κάμπο των Έξω Λακωνιών. Αν έρθετε στην Κρήτη για να βρείτε τα κουτιά της σειράς VTC, θα βρεθείτε στους λόφους ανατολικά των Έξω Λακωνίων, που μπορείτε να δείτε στη φωτογραφία (δείτε παραπάνω)!
Ένας μικρός δρόμος πάει από τα Έξω Λακώινα για την Κριτσά. Στο Σημείο Διαδρομής F βρίσκεστε στο πάρκινγκ της εκκλησίας της Παναγίας Κεράς. Η εκκλησία χρονολογείται από τον 13ο αιώνα και έχει καλά διατηρημένες και ανακαινισμένες βυζαντινές τοιχογραφίες.
