Leap Day 2020 is upon us. There are many traditions and superstitions around Leap Day, the odd date of February 29. In Ireland, this was the only day every four years that, contrary to how the rest of the year went, a woman could propose to a man. If a man refused the proposal he had to give the woman 12 pair gloves so she could hide the embarassment of not being engaged. Some countries feel that February 29th is an unlucky day to be born or marry, just like the thirteenth of any month.
