When the brood of turkey were introduced in 1930, they also flourished. Unfortunately, these turkeys learned that picnickers often left behind food scraps. The turkeys then learned that if they were present when the picnickers ate, they would throw them food. The turkeys became bold and not frightened of any dangers and unfortunately this lead to their demise when they were apparently eaten by night feeders such as wildcats or other “varmints”.
