Geocache Description:

This cache is placed at Highlands Hammock State Park

The park is open from 8 am until sunset, 365 days a year.

A state park entrance fee is required.

In 1929, John Roebling had persuaded Alexander Blair to go to Lake Placid to develop a tract of land where he would design and construct road, railroad sidings, fence, electric power and lighting, water supply as pre-work for Mr. Roebling’s winter home.  Blair also planned and supervised the area known as highlands Hammock.  For this work he built up a separate organization.  After the work at the Hammock was completed, he was elected chairman of the park’s advisory council and continued in that capacity for 35 years.  In honor of him a trail in the park was designated as the “Alexander Blair Trail”
