From parking follow the signs to the meadow trail.
A walk along the marsh border will reward you with glimpses of a kingdom of birds among the cattails. Watch for nesting red-winged blackbirds and foraging great blue herons, and listen for the songs of Marsh wrens and common yellow throats.
Just above the beach, wind-blown and tide shifted sand form a unique open meadow of blue-green dune grass, interspersed with thickets of Oregon-grape, snowberry, elderberry and Nootka rose. In spring, watch for prairie flowers, such as chocolate lilies, and be on the lookout for open country birds, such as killdeer.
Located at the Peach Preserve Property, managed by The San Juan Preservation Trust and placed with permission.
