Deja vu, anyone?
Again this year, I have the perfect place to show a film (I am a volunteer projectionist and systems admin at the theatre) so I thought I'd again try hosting a showing of the GIFF (Geocaching International Film Festival) v2019. The event will take place at Toledo's historic Wieting Theatre at 2:00 PM. The Wieting will show a 2nd-run feature film at 7:00 PM in the evening so we'll try to wrap-up our event by 4 PM, maybe a little earlier.
The show will begin at 2:30 PM, but please plan to arrive as early as 2:00 PM to sign the logbook, mingle, tour the theatre (optional), discover and/or swap travel bugs, etc. You know the drill. I hope to enlist a little help from my fellow Wieting Theatre Guild members to offer tours and to staff the concessions stand so we'll have reasonably priced popcorn and a nice selection of soft drinks, water, and candy for sale. Check out https://wieting.tamatoledo.com/prices for prices and details.
The show will be free for everyone, and open to the general public, so veteran geocachers might have an opportunity to introduce some newbies to geocaching too!
This year we have the fortune of offering a free-will donation luncheon at 1:00 in the new addition attached to the south side of the auditorium. Please find details and add your name(s) to our Google Sign-up Sheet if you plan to attend AND would like some pasta!.
The Wieting celebrated its first centennial in 2012 and members of the community raised $1.4 million to renovate the structure to the majestic jewel that it is today. Phase 2 renovation is complete and a new addition to the theatre (on the south side) is now open...with room enough for a luncheon (see above).
As in the past, I would like to accept free-will donations and concessions sales to benefit the theatre, but no purchase is required to enter or to attend the 2:00 PM event.
If you post a "Will Attend" please try to let me know how many in your party will be attending, if possible.
Watch this space for additional details. Hope to see you in Toledo on November 17, 2019. Take care.
