I have been walking my dog to this tiny obscure park in my negighborhood for over a two years.
Just recently, I learned that this park is a place of great historical signficance in regards to the settlement of the West.
In 1812, the Pacific Fur Company set up the first structure in the Willamette Valley. This post was used to trade furs up and down the Willamette River.
I have new respect for this area knowing that it played such an importnat role in American history and hope you do as well.
