Cache is in Rider Park some distance off marked trails. SIGNIFICANT bushwhacking is now REQUIRED. Ticks possible, dress appropriately and recommend use of repellant. Much undergrowth in forest has occurred since original placement of this cache. If you cannot find it, recommend re-trying this in the late fall, winter, or early spring: the coordinates jump a LOT due to heavy trees and foliage in summer.
Trail to the cache area is generally flat, but can occasionally be blocked depending on trail maintenance (trees, piles of dirt/stone/mulch/deer/bears/etc). Off trail the terrain becomes hilly. Rider Park was a gift of the late Thomas J. Rider to the residents of Lycoming County. It is open to the public from dawn to dusk. Bring water, snack, and insect repellent (ticks and mosquitos likely). Plan on spending the day -- check out other caches as well as the butterfly gardens, and panoramic vistas overlooking the Susquehanna Valley further along the trail loop. Take some time to enjoy this rural "low-impact" park. Note the park land is close to hunting land. Do not trespass on surrounding private lands. Over the vista and across the Loyalsock Creek is a shooting range, so you could potentially hear distant shooting during any season. The cache is green rusty ammo box. Once you find it, PLEASE TAKE CARE TO RELATCH THE CLOSURE completely, AND PLACE THE BOX BACK UPRIGHT TO MIMIMIZE CONTAMINATION WITH WATER/MOLD!! Also, if your item is paper or will disintegrate, please bring a plastic bag for it if damage from moisture is likely. Take care not to leave an obvious path. PLEASE be discrete when opening the cache, and please be sure to re-cover and hide the cache when you are done. Plan on some off trail bushwhacking (it's required for this one). IMPORTANT: do not park or hike on any nearby private land (it is well posted). Some areas outside of the park are used for hunting, or are private property.
