Welcome!
Welcome to the Tappan Zee Bike Path! This path is 3.6 miles long, with 3 miles over the water. There are dedicated bike and pedestrian lanes, all paved and marked out. It's blue, so you can't miss it! There are welcome centers in South Nyack and Tarrytown. Walking one way completely across should take about 80 minutes while riding a bike should take about 20 minutes. Of course, if you're enjoying the six stops along the way and the two welcome centers, it could take longer. There is plenty of artwork and kiosks along the way to entertain everyone!
Hours and Safety
The path, as of its opening, is available from 6 AM – 10 PM. Please make sure to dress accordingly as you will be completely exposed to the weather, so plan for the sun, wind, or cold.
The Virtual Cache
I chose this location for two reasons. One, it is about midway across, and two, this section, River Crossing, is all about transportation. Being that I've crossed this bridge and the old one many times mostly for work, it has the most meaning to me. At this point, you will be 139 feet above the water. Look at that view! I'm not going to bore you with all of the details that you can find online and at the signage and kiosks along the way. That would spoil the fun!
Here's what is needed. Please message the CO the following:
- How many canopies are there?
- In the bench, how many slots are there to park bicycles?
- Looking north at the river, how many ovals in total are under all of the benches? Don't count the other side.
**Simply logging a find without supplying answers within 24 hours will result in a deleted log.**
