Seaview is a small Edwardian resort located on the north-eastern corner of the Isle of Wight, overlooking the Solent.
In 1877 the Seaview Pier Company was formed to build Seaview a promenading pier, and approval for a pier was given by Parliament in 1878. The suspension pier was designed by Frank Caws, a Seaview-born engineer/architect. The pier was finished in 1881 and was 1000 foot-long and 15 feet wide, in 1889 it was extended another 50 feet. There were four towers from which the pier deck was suspended with chains.
The Navy took over the pier during WWII but by 1945 the pier was in very poor condition. After a series of storms in 1950 and 1951 there was only the pier head and about 100ft of promenade left. Sadly these were demolished in 1952.
You are looking for a small 2” long tube hidden along Pier Road. Tweezers may be needed to extract the log. Please replace the container carefully
