Hey folks! To thank the good folks of The Elgin Stewardship Council for being gracious enough to allow us to place geocaches within the FWMA, (Fingal Wildlife Management Area), I have decided to host a CITO Event to spruce the place up around my birthday again this year! The event will run officially from noon until 2pm on Sunday June 2nd but we are free to stay as long as we want afterwards.
We will be meeting at the posted co-ordinates for lunch at noon, (feel free to bring whatever you like to munch on ), then afterwards we will be spreading out amongst the 27 kilometres of trails and 720 acres of land that make up the FWMA to pick up trash. There are washrooms available on site near the posted trail map co-ordinates. I will be providing the garbage bags for us, and will try to obtain gloves as well, but it would probably be a good idea to bring your own, just in case. Since the place is so large, I have provided parking co-ordinates for two other locations as well for those who would like to clean up the rear area of the FWMA. Also, due to the size of the place, if you have any FRS radios, feel free to bring them along to keep in contact with other attendees so you're not using up cell phone time if you wish.
This year's CITO will also be a tribute to the late Lorne Spicer, a former caretaker at the FWMA, and a good friend of ours, as well as a supporter of our geocaching and CITO efforts.
