Newt Pond Trail is a newly created trail in the 141 acre Mount Grant Preserve, owned by the San Juan Country Land Bank with support from the San Juan Preservation Trust. To reach this trail, park at the base and walk about 2/3rds of the way up the "motorized" route (the road to the top of Mount Grant is open some Sundays to cars). The trailhead is well-marked with a sign for "Newt Pond Trail" on the right (downhill) side.
