Geocache Description:

27 April 2019, 12:00 - 13:00

WE NEED 25 VOLUNTEERS IN ORDER TO GET THE TOUR.

We will be assisting the Lock Master in planting flowers and plants in the pollinator areas, and general cleaning up some trash if time permits.

The Army Corp of Engineers will be providing the plants and we will be providing the labor. I will have water and trash bags.

This will also be a good time to get all the answers to GC2YC1R and put a smiley on that puzzle.

As a BONUS, we will have a chance to have a behind the scenes tour of the locks. This tour will take us through areas that are off limits to the general public. If you ever wondered what goes on behind the "RESTRICTED" fence, this is your vary rare chance to see it.

FROM THE ARMY CORP OF ENGINEERS:

The volunteer activity includes removal of shrubs, plants, and weeds from a landscaping bed at the McAlpine L&D visitors center to prepare the bed to be re-purposed as a pollinator plant seed bed. This activity will take place on Saturday, 27 April at approximately 1200 and the service is anticipated to last 1 - 2 hours. The volunteers will use their own gloves and closed toe shoes. The government will provide rakes, wheelbarrows, shovels, picks, hand saws, and a trailer on which to place debris for disposal by the government. Government vehicles may be used to transport a small group of volunteers to the pollinator areas on Shipping-port Island. Skills with landscaping hand tools are recommend.

KEEP WATCHING THIS AS I WILL POST UPDATES
