I've been working on matching MONTH/DAY to DIFFICULTY/TERRAIN for a while now. And 1/5 on 1/5 would have been very tricky for me, having outpatient surgery on 1/4. (Mostly, the travel would be the problem.) So, I thought how to have a legitimate Terrain 5 on 1/5. And that's when it occurred to me... Many of us winter geocachers have used crampons, snowshoes, and even skis to fetch a winter smiley... but what about ice skates? Well, now, you can say you've done that too.
TIME: 12 noon - (at least) 12:30 (I'm hoping 2pm, but that's unofficial.)
PLACE: Skating Rink at the Plaza.
The plaza has skating through the winter. Normally, it's $4 rentals ($3 for kids) but I think Saturdays are free rentals. (In fact, I heard that for 1/5 there's even a free learning clinic 10-12 for those that might want the extra help before skating in front of your geopeers).
Anyway, just in case you aren't up to it, ice skating is not required. It's merely encouraged. But cheering on those who do skate is highly encouraged. I'll announce more info as the date nears.
