Geocache Description:

Do you remember the first cache that you found?

Oh how much we have learned since our first geocache find

I certainly remember our first cache.  It was on November 29th, 2008 and that was the only cache that we found that year.  Then nothing until 2012 when four caches were found in one day. In 2015 we only recorded seven caches.  Could I tell you about any of any of those other than our first?  Not a chance.

Well, I could tell you about an event we attended in 2014 but never recorded until over two years later. There really was no question as to us being there, but that is another story. Just ask me about it sometime.

It wasn't until June of 2016 that we really started on our caching journey, but I'm not here to say anything about that.  I am here to tell you about our first cache.  The name of that cache was Woody's Walk and in looking through past logs there are so many caching names that I recognize. If you want to see who's names are on the original Woody's Walk PRESS HERE
If you are one of the cachers that found the original Woody's Walk say something about that when/if you log this cache.

November 29th by the way is our oldest daughters birthday. Her caching name is kimberteacher and she wanted to find a cache on her birthday. She asked if I (Mr Pof4ks) would go along and that there was one that wasn't too far.  We made the walk along the path, her with a her gps in hand and with me looking over her shoulder. We got to what she called ground zero but to me it was just a tree, and then we started our search.  She may have a different story to tell but I think I was the one that first saw the container.  We each signed the log and put things back they way we found them.  It was a great bonding experiance. I may not have seen it that way then but geocaching with family really has been a great experiance.

So why am I going in circles visiting about my first cache?  November 29, 2018 will be ten years of caching (even though it started out slow) and I wanted to place a cache as close to the original Woody's Walk as possible and on our ten year anniversary.  So out I ventured with gps in hand with the original coordinates as a waypoint.  Made it to the area and looked for a good spot where a similar container could be placed.  Picked it out and put a little geouflage around it and marked the coordinates.  Then I looked around some more.  Not more than five feet away was an old camouflaged container laying on the ground.  I brought it home (remember - cache in - trash out) and looked through the contents.  Sunglasses, a couple of marbles, a rubber turtle shell and some other swag of little significance.  But what was there is another story.  The log book, pretty wet and very musty but it was there along with a pen I didn't even attempt to try.

Our names are on there somewhere

This cache may be someones very first cache. It is my hope that they remember their first cache as well as I remember mine.

The original Woody's Walk was larger than what I placed here so you will need to bring your own pen, however it is large enough for a small trackable which I added. It's name is Woody, how appropriate. Also the original DT rating was listed as a one difficulty and one terrain. You couldn't get a wheelchair to it then and you can't get a wheelchair to it now. I couldn't keep everything the same.

This cache is located in an Urban bow hunting area. Please use caution when signs are posted.
